It is 1882-1883 Paris, France, and both the Parisiens and visitors alike bustle about in their daily lives. In the very heart of Paris is the recently constructed Op?ra Garnier, where performers, and scene-shifters, and all sorts of people from all sorts of professions busy themselves with maintenance and with preparations for performances.
Unknown to all but a small handful (and even to most of these, only as a myth), a spectre of a man dwells below them in the cellars, watching them, musing upon them, and occasionally preying upon their fears for sport, or acting as an invisible puppet master to the company.
Who knows what terrors this mysterious "Phantom" is capable of, or what surprisingly frightening or blissfully wondrous secrets he may have in store.
We are now accepting canon characters (no matter how obscure) and original characters (see list for recommended OCs). We also encourage the creation of characters who are historical figures or even people living in the period. We are an intermediate-advanced role-playing site, but are willing to help people who are new to role-playing progress quickly to an intermediate level.

The Siren sat in her electric motor powered mobile jacuzzi sipping her double shot espresso at the café table on the corner of Rue Somethingrather and Boulevard Idon’tgiveadamn watching the foul mortals pass by bustling along in their daily routines. It was sunny out, and so she wore a wide brimmed Easter bonnet to keep the sun off her face, gigantic Gucci sunglasses, and SPF a bazillion+ sunscreen in order to keep herself from burning in that foul day-star’s harsh rays. There used to be flowers on the hat, but she had eaten them long ago. Mind you, they were faux flowers, and so her consumption of them was immediately followed by the regurgitation thereof.
She flicked her tail, splashing a bit of water outside of her jacuzzi--just barely enough to cause a waiter who was passing by to slip and to fall flat on his back (perhaps or perhaps not on purpose). The creature smirked a bit, her pale eyes gleaming with mischief beneath her shades. She was waiting to meet someone there. It wasn’t long though before the person whom she was expecting walked through the café door.

Wearing a large, wide brimmed Dolce and Gabanna hat and a pair of Burburry glasses, Amelée pushed and shoved her way down the overly crowded Boulevard Idon'tgiveadamn. Finally, she turned into the café and stepped on top of a waiter struggling to get up as she made her way over to the Siren. Smirking as she sat, Amélie looked down at the floor and ordered, "A wine- white, something that goes well with fish."
Looking away from the fallen waiter Amelée finally paid heed to the person she was here to see: the Siren. She smiled brightly and lowered her glasses appraising her friend and purposely ignoring the horrible looking muck on the side of the hot tub. The bonnet was out of touch. Still, she had to credit the glasses. Those classes were so on the money- Trés Chic! "Hello my dear. Hat non, glasses oui. How's life in the underworld?

A cruel smirk of sick amusement found its way onto the creature's colorless lips as the fashionista of a ladies maid stepped into the restaurant, right on top of that poor soul of a waiter whom she had caused to slip only minutes beforehand. The other woman lowered her glasses and spoke.
The creature rolled her pale eyes beneath the dark, wide-brimmed glasses. "It looked better with the nasty flower on it," she said with a slight his and a turn of her nose.
She swirled around the coffee in her cup a little before taking a sip and setting it back down upon the iron grating of the café table. "Oh, you know, the usual. The boss man going through his little musical temper tantrums, ranting about Swedes and Mozart, and Spanish noblemen. You? How's life with Miss Assoluta?"
She was certain to drag out the "s" while pronouncing the word assoluta. Perhaps she was trying to be sure that she said the Italian properly... or perhaps it has her natural almost hiss when she spoke... or perhaps she was merely feeling like an especially sassy fishy that particular day--it was more likely a combination of all three.

Sometimes her friend seriously worried her. Really. Nothing, not even a nasty flower, could make that hat any better. It really was, flower or no flower, trés tragic. The hat alone needed an intervention. But oh well. After so many meetings where something had been wrong with her fish friend's wardrobe, Amélie was sure it was a battle she would never win. One of the few she would just have to concede and prey that her friend would eventually see the light.
At least life beyond fashion was well enough. The boss being a baby and ranting. It sounded like her days. Her boss ranted. Her boss ranted about Swedes come to think of it. Not Mozart though. German. She complained about German. Mozart wasn't German was she. As long as she had been in the opera Amélie had never really managed to get the composers straight. There were all just funny little men with strange fashion sense and wigs. So many wigs....
"We should really set them up on a date and see who lasts longer. At least between the two of them complaining the conversation would never end. It would be, 'The Swede this and music that,' and then they would just swing their fists in the air when they wouldn't get their way like little children!" Amélie smiled happily at her thought. She knew La Diva would probably loose but the process would at least amuse her.
A bout of horrendously dry laughter (ironic, non?) laughter escaped the Siren's mouth before her pale eyes narrowed. If there was one thing she hated, it was having to compete with anyone else for the Master's attention. It was bad enough that there was the rest of his brain there, but adding in a date now too?
But then she smirked again, a sparkle of mischief coming to her eyes. actually, it would be quite interesting to see how long the Master would last with La Carlotta... before he ended up strangling her. Just the thought of fresh death left a rather pleasing sensation about her.
"Quite," she said simply. "How about next Thursday? Or do you think their schedules would permit?"
((Ack! This is a painstakingly serious post for a crack thread XD))

The corner of Amélie's lips turned slightly upward with amusement as she took in the hideous laughter of her companion. There was really only one word to describe it and that was eerie. Still, she couldn't fault her friend for being a creature of horror. You could see it in her constantly, especially when she narrowed her eyes like that. At least the look didn't last long.
And agreement. It had been meant to be a joke, but it seemed it actually seemed to be an amusing thought for both of them if nothing else. Amélie considered the offer carefully. Thursday. There was something about Thursday that she was forgetting. Monday was the hair dressers, Tuesday was a fitting, Wednesday was the day she saved for her bird, Thursday was....Thursday was....."Thursday is no good. Thursday she is regularly scheduled to sleep all day. She apparently needs it before the performances over the weekend. Friday afternoon should serve though."
Sleep all day--she should have figured. Of course that lazy cow of a diva would be “too busy” for whatever time her master had available. But Friday…..
“Oh no! No, no, no, no, no, Friday is simply impossible. You see, he’s re-papering the walls of the torture chamber on Friday afternoon. Do you have any idea how incredibly difficult it is to apply mirror-coated wallpaper?” It was true. Finding the stuff was even more of a challenge though.
Hmmm…. Is Thursday was no good, and neither was Friday…. “Saturday? It would have to be after 3 though, because he’s going to be busy stalking Swedes until then… What does her schedule look like on Saturday after three?”
It wasn’t really so much that the creature cared what La Carlotta was doing… so much as there was a sort of amusement in hearing the pathetic ‘schedule’ she couldn’t afford to break.

Random Leroux fan: I ended up here while looking at pictures of Kristina Nilsson. I'm not really into RP or fanfic -- but am huge Leroux FdelO fan an I had fun reading the "profiles" for Christine and Erik here. Well thought out by ppl who know the org characters. Thanks!

O.G.: I came here looking to rp. However it seems as though, no one is using this site any longer. This is quite a disappointment. If this site becomes popular again I would love to rp here.
